Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP) Apply

Before you apply, determine whether your program is eligible and assess your readiness to apply. See the Practice Transition Accreditation Program® Application Manual for full eligibility criteria.

Assess Readiness to Apply

  • Complete the PTAP Gap Analysis.

  • Review the 2024 ANCC Practice Transition Accreditation Program® (PTAP) Application Manual

  • Contact the ANCC PTAP/APPFA Team (practicetransition@ana.org) to determine the appropriate review cycle for your program.

    • The ANCC PTAP program conducts 4 review cycles a year (see table below):

    Application acceptance will begin at 9 am EST on the start date and end on the last date or when the cycle is full.


    Please note:
     Depending on application volume, you may be placed into the next available cycle when we reach documentation review capacity. Notification will be provided here when a cycle is full. Contact the PTAP Office with any questions.

  • Watch the PTAP Application Eligibility Decision Tree Tutorial. Once you're done viewing the tutorial, download and review the ANCC PTAP Application Eligibility Decision Tree to help you determine your eligibility to apply and what to include on your application.
  • Download and submit a completed PTAP Application Form during one of the four application review timeframes. (Note: The PTAP Application form (Ver 3) was updated on February 16, 2024. If you completed the application prior to this date, please download and complete the current application form above before submitting.) 

  • Watch this informational video to learn how to fill out the application form (upldated September 20, 2023).

    • Programs with more than five (5) participating or non-participating sites will need to download and utilize the application addendum form. (Ver 3; updated February 16, 2024)

    • If the baccalaureate degree (or higher) in nursing was obtained outside the United States, the  Program Director and site clinical coordinator(s) (if used in the program)  do not need to have the degree evaluated for comparability to US degree requirements.
    • If the Program Director and site clinical coordinator(s) (if used in the program)  are educated outside the United States and do not hold a baccalaureate (or higher) nursing degree, they must have their credentials evaluated for comparability to US degree standards through Commission on Graduate of Foreign Nursing Schools (CGFNS).

  • After the submission of your PTAP application form the ANCC PTAP/APPFA team will confirm your programs eligibility. Please review the Accreditation review checklist.
