Kathy Driscoll

In her role as Chief Nursing Officer, Kathy oversees Humana’s strategy of improving the experience of Humana’s community of nearly ten thousand nurses, care managers, and social workers, and promoting a culture that engages, values, and inspires clinical professionals while impacting health outcomes. Focus areas include clinical quality and innovation, clinician growth and development, and clinician engagement and recognition. She also leads initiatives to support the health and well-being of Humana’s clinical communities leveraging partnerships across Humana, as well as external partnerships such as the ANA Healthy Nurse Healthy Nation initiative and the IHI Joy in Work Collaborative. Kathy collaborates with other leaders of the Humana Home Solutions strategy to best support member health by advancing capabilities in the home.

Prior, Kathy served in various senior leadership roles at the company, including as Vice President and Chief of Operations at Humana At Home, where she led clinical operations including Care Management Services for Humana members as well as private pay clients, homecare operations including licensed and certified home health agencies. She was a founding member of the Humana At Home Innovation Team, which developed a consumer-centered health experience initiative focused on envisioning the future of health care delivery in the home.

Prior to Humana, Kathy was Senior Vice President and Chief Operating Officer of SeniorBridge, a national Care Management and Homecare company acquired by Humana in 2012. Kathy has more than 30 years of experience in nursing, with a concentration in geriatrics, home care, managed care, and care management. Kathy holds a Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Seton Hall University, a Master of Science in Nursing Management and Executive Leadership from Sacred Heart University, where she received the Dean’s Leadership Award, and is currently pursuing a Doctor of Nursing Practice degree, also at Sacred Heart University. Kathy is a Registered Nurse, and holds board certifications as Nurse Executive, Advanced, and Case Management Nursing Honor Society. Kathy is a member of the Board of Directors for SeniorBridge, as well as serving on the Board of Trustees for the American Nurses Foundation. She is a member of The American Nurses Association; Sigma Theta Tau, the nursing honor society; The Case Management Society of America, The American Organization of Nurse Leaders, and The American Association of Managed Care Nurses.

Laura Leigh Ferrio

Laura Ferrio is a creative executive with vast clinical, managerial, and executive experience. For decades, Ferrio has served the Shirley Ryan AbilityLab, the global leader in physical medicine and rehabilitation for adults and children with the most severe, complex conditions. In her current role as Chief Operating Officer, she oversees all clinical operations including inpatient hospital services, outpatient, DayRehab, specialized clinical services and the alliances, as the hospital cares for more than 50,000 patients annually from around the globe.

Ferrio began her career with the organization as a Nurse Intern, eventually working her way up to Chief Nurse Executive and Vice President of Patient Care and Services. In that role, she influenced decision-making in every clinical area, including patient-care units, therapy and research laboratories and ancillary departments. She also spearheaded efforts that resulted in AbilityLab receiving the Prestigious Magnet® Recognition — the first rehabilitation hospital in the country to secure this prestigious designation. The extensive process for application that Laura developed and implemented laid the groundwork for our hospital to receive four successive Magnet designations.

Prior to becoming Chief Operating Officer, Ferrio also served as Chief Advancement Officer — leading philanthropy and development efforts for the organization, and increasing annual direct contributions, endowments and restricted funding in the process. She continues to serve as President of the Keystone Board.

Over the course of her career, Ferrio has been part of many important initiatives. She was instrumental in the design of Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s state-of-the-art hospital and implementation of its translational model. Additionally, with philanthropic seed funding, Ferrio co-founded Shirley Ryan AbilityLab’s LIFE Center, which now houses the largest collection of patient education and consumer health resources for people with functional impairments.

Ferrio holds a BS in Nursing from Northern Illinois University, as well as an MBA and MS in Nursing from Loyola University Chicago. She also completed a Fellowship for Nurse Executives at the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania. A lifelong champion for nurses, Ferrio serves on the board of the American Nurses Foundation. She is the past president of both the Illinois Organization of Nurse Leaders and the Illinois Coalition for Nursing Resources. She was named the Illinois Nurse Leader of the Year in 2004 and received a governor appointment to serve on the Illinois Board of Nursing, a role which she held for a decade (2004-2014). In addition, Ferrio received the 2009 Outstanding Alumni Award for the College of Health & Human Sciences at Northern Illinois University.

Paul W. Abramowitz

Paul W. Abramowitz is the Chief Executive Officer of the American Society of Health-System Pharmacists (ASHP) and President of the ASHP Foundation.

ASHP is the largest association of pharmacy professionals in the United States, representing 60,000 pharmacists, student pharmacists, and pharmacy technicians in all patient care settings, including hospitals, ambulatory clinics, and health-system community pharmacies. For over 80 years, ASHP has championed innovation in pharmacy practice, advanced education and professional development, and served as a steadfast advocate for members and the patients they serve. ASHP is also the accrediting body for pharmacy residency and technician training programs, and provides comprehensive resources to support pharmacy professionals through every stage of their careers.

Prior to joining ASHP in September 2011, Dr. Abramowitz worked in hospitals and health-systems for over 30 years. He served as Associate Hospital Director for Professional Services and Chief Pharmacy Officer at the University of Iowa Hospitals and Clinics, and Professor at the University of Iowa College of Pharmacy. He also held prior positions as Director of Pharmacy and Associate Professor at the Medical College of Virginia and the University of Minnesota.

Dr. Abramowitz received a Bachelors Degree in Chemistry and Biology from Indiana University, a Bachelors Degree in Pharmacy from the University of Toledo, a PharmD from the University of Michigan, and completed his residency at the University of Michigan Medical Center.

In addition to serving as ASHP President in 1993-94 and as Treasurer of ASHP from 2007-10, he chaired the Boards of: the ASHP Research and Education Foundation, the Iowa Board of Pharmacy, and the Iowa Statewide Poison Control Center.

Dr. Abramowitz has actively combined practice, teaching, and research throughout his career. He has lectured and published extensively focusing on: the effect that quality pharmacy care can have on improving outcomes and reducing costs of care, developing new pharmacy care models, reducing adverse drug events, and expanding comprehensive medication management to all sites of care.
He was a recipient of the John W. Webb Lecture Award in 2000 and the Harvey A.K. Whitney Lecture Award in 2009, health-system pharmacy’s highest honor. In 1990, he received the Distinguished Alumni Award from the University of Toledo College of Pharmacy, in 2010, the Alumni Distinguished Lifetime Achievement Award from the University of Michigan College of Pharmacy, and in 2015, he was recognized as one of Washington’s Trending Association Leaders by Bisnow. Dr. Abramowitz received Honorary Doctor of Science degrees from the University of Toledo in 2013 and the Touro College and University System in 2022.

Currently, Dr. Abramowitz serves on the Boards of the American Nurses Foundation, the Pharmacy Technician Certification Board and the GTMRx Institute. He also serves on the Howard University College of Pharmacy Board of Visitors, is a member of the National Steering Committee for Patient Safety of the Institute for Healthcare Improvement and a Professor-Emeritus at the University of Iowa.

Angela Beddoe

Angela Beddoe has deep and seasoned experience across corporate and not-for-profit industries, and numerous executive leadership roles. As the Chief Executive Officer of the ANA Enterprise, Angela provides leadership for internal systems, processes, and operations and supports the strategic programmatic work of ANA, ANCC, and the Foundation to advance the nursing profession.

Phyllis Doulaveris

Phyllis Doulaveris joined Kaiser Permanente in 2022 as the Senior Vice President for National Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive. At KP, she leads and inspires over 68,000 professional nurses in the provision of equitable, safe, and appropriate care for KP members nationwide. Dr. Doulaveris joins KP from Banner Health where she was the organization’s first SVP of Patient Care Services and Chief Nurse Executive leading nursing and care delivery across 31 acute care hospitals in six states. As Banner’s system CNE, Dr. Doulaveris also led Perioperative, Trauma, Emergency, Women’s & Infants Services, and Care Delivery Operations at the system level. Prior to her work at Banner Health, Dr. Doulaveris served as the system SVP and Chief Nursing & Chief Quality Officer for Bon Secours Mercy Health in Cincinnati, OH and the Regional SVP & Chief Nursing Officer for Wheaton Franciscan Healthcare’s Iowa market. She has a breadth of healthcare experience that includes Clinical Research, Clinical Informatics, Outcomes Management, and health system leadership roles.  She has served in various settings, among which are the National Institutes of Health, U.S. Centers for Disease Control, the Inova Health System, the U.S. Army Office of the Surgeon General, and the Military Health System. She has extensive expertise in optimizing clinical operations, strategic planning, organizational learning, and transformational leadership. Clinically, Dr. Doulaveris has a background in pediatric oncology & infectious disease and pediatric and neonatal critical care. She received a Bachelor of Science in Nursing and Master of Science in Nursing (concentration in Nursing Informatics) from the University of Maryland and a Doctorate in Nursing Practice from Marquette University.  She holds certifications as Nurse Executive - Advanced and Professional in Healthcare Quality.

Ernest J. Grant

Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging, Duke University

Dr. Ernest J. Grant is the Vice Dean for Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Belonging at the Duke University School of Nursing.  He is also the immediate past president of the American Nurses Association (ANA), the nation’s largest nurse’s organization representing the interests of the nation’s 4.3 million registered nurses. He is the first man to be elected to the office of president of the American Nurses Association in its 127 years of existence.

A distinguished leader, Dr. Grant has more than 30 years of nursing experience and is an internationally recognized burn-care and fire-safety expert.  He also serves as adjunct faculty for the UNC-Chapel Hill School of Nursing, where he works with undergraduate and graduate nursing students in the classroom and clinical settings.  For the past four years in a row, Dr. Grant has been recognized by Modern Healthcare Magazine as one of 50 Influential Clinical Executives in Healthcare and as one of the 100 Most Influential People in Healthcare.  He has been nationally recognized for his work addressing racism, equity, and inclusion within the nursing profession.

In 2002, President George W. Bush presented Grant with a Nurse of the Year Award for his work treating burn victims from the World Trade Center site. He was inducted as a fellow into the American Academy of Nursing in 2011.  Grant holds a BSN degree from North Carolina Central University and MSN and PhD degrees from the University of North Carolina at Greensboro.

Kathleen Malloch

Kathy Malloch Leadership Systems

Dr. Kathy Malloch is a recognized expert in leadership and the development of effective evidence-based processes and systems for patient care. Her uncanny focus on accountability and results is the hallmark of her practice. Her expertise has been useful to many organizations across the country.

A nationally known writer and speaker, Malloch has been a registered nurse for over 40 years. She has published extensively in proctored health journals. She is a frequent presenter and author on leadership topics, healthcare innovation, professional nursing practice, and patient classification systems.

Malloch served as the first program director for the Arizona State University, College of Nursing and Health Innovation, Master’s in Healthcare Innovation program. This innovative, multidisciplinary program is the first of its kind in the country. She continues to teach in the leadership of innovation track in the nursing doctoral program at Arizona State University. Most recently, Malloch and Porter-O’Grady created the Executive DNP Program at OSU-College of Nursing, Columbus, OH.

Malloch is the designer of the Expert Nurse Estimation Patient Classification System (ENEPCS), an innovative model to integrate the role of the professional nurse in daily nurse-patient staffing to achieve the best outcomes. In 2008, ENEPCS was purchased by API Healthcare, a GE Company.

A graduate of Wayne State University, College of Nursing, Malloch received an MBA from Oakland University and a PhD in nursing from the University of Colorado. She is a member of the American Academy of Nursing.

Jennifer McClure

Jen McClure is a senior executive, advisor, and board director with corporate and nonprofit leadership experience and expertise in strategic growth, technology transformation, marketing, strategic communications and risk management. Through her experience as a founder and CEO in the Silicon Valley, Jen has experience in starting, scaling, and leading organizations, M&A initiatives, and driving innovation and change. She founded Consultants Collective, a Palo Alto-based management consulting firm, where she served as CEO and Chair from 2016 - 2022, and led the firm's merger with 2GO Advisory Group in 2022, where she served as a Managing Partner until 2024. Business Insider named her a Power Player in Management Consulting and one of the top disrupters in the industry. Prior to that, she was Thomson Reuters’ Vice President of Digital and Social Media, where she led global, enterprise-wide digital strategy, transformation and governance. In 2005, she co-founded the Society for New Communications Research, the first global nonprofit think tank focused on digital and social media's impact on media, business, and society. The organization's groundbreaking research and success led to its merger with The Conference Board in 2016, where she served as Distinguished Principal Fellow and Program Director in the Marketing & Communications Center until 2023. A Qualified Risk Director®, NACD Governance Fellow, and Boardwise advisor and instructor, Jen is dedicated to helping the boards she serves navigate sustainable growth strategies, opportunities, and risks. In addition to the American Nurses Foundation Board of Trustees, Jen currently serves on the boards of Accelerator Media as Chair, Friends of PBS Wisconsin as Board Secretary, and Miracle Messages, as Audit Committee Chair.

 

Mehul Mehta

Mehul Mehta, MD, is the Chief Medical Officer at ASG. He draws on decades of global healthcare, medical education, and life science research systems experience to advise and assist groups on the development and implementation of healthcare, education, and research systems in markets around the world while also providing healthcare inputs to ASG and its teams.

Previously, Dr. Mehta held leadership positions at Harvard Medical International and at Partners Healthcare International, where he oversaw global strategy, program development, and operations implementation in over 30 countries. At each, he worked to reform healthcare delivery systems and educational and research entities around the world. His emphasis has been on building sustainable and innovative health care, research and medical education capacity. He also served as a Senior Fellow at the Harvard Global Health Institute, where he was the faculty lead on the technology and health initiative, specifically focused on AI in global health. He has been a member of the Department of Ophthalmology at Harvard Medical School since 1997, and an Honorary Clinical Staff member at Massachusetts Eye & Ear in Boston.

Dr. Mehta completed medical school with honors at the University of Bombay in India, and his clinical training in retinal diseases at Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts Eye & Ear. He completed his post-doctoral research at the Schepens Eye Research Institute of Harvard Medical School. He also holds an M.A. in Cognitive and Neural Systems, focused on neural networks and AI, from Boston University. Earlier in his career he was a consultant in the healthcare practice at McKinsey and Company. Dr. Mehta sits on the boards of non-profit health care entities and continues to teach and publish on global health. Dr. Mehta is based in Boston.
